The Office of Human Resources (OHR) is a disbanded office of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). When it was active, the OHR was responsible for matters relating to human resources, as its name suggests.

The Office of Human Resources was operational during The Closer. In the real world, the OHR was a very short-lived Office, only existing in 2004, before The Closer even began. In the Major Crimes Universe, the Office was seen up-and-running as late as 2009, during Season 5 of The Closer, and the Assistant Chief of Human Resources had their office next to the Assistant Chief of Operations' office on the 6th floor of the Parker Center. After the LAPD moved from Parker Center to the Police Administration Building, it's not known which floor the Office of Human Resources moved to, though it's possible they moved to the 9th floor just like the Assistant Chief of Operations, but their office were just not seen as is the case for most of the 9th floor.

In Season 7 of The Closer, when Thomas Delk was appointed as the Chief of Police, he planned on restructuring the department to more closely match the real LAPD of the time. In the proposed new organizational chart which Delk prepared, the Office of Human Resources was no longer listed, suggesting it was going to disbanded. Before Chief Delk could make these changes public, he died of a sudden brain aneurysm. After Assistant Chief of Operations Will Pope was appointed as the Interim Chief of Police (and later when he was permanently sworn in as the Chief of Police), it's presumed that he implemented some of Delk's proposed changes, including the disbandment of OHR, as the LAPD of the Major Crimes Universe has been known to evolve alongside its real life counterpart, and there have been no further mentions or visual indicators that it still exists.

Director / Assistant Chief[]

The Director, Office of Human Resources, also known as Assistant Chief of Human Resources, was ultimately responsible for for all matters related to the function and activities of the Office of Human Resources.

The Assistant Chief of Human Resources has never been introduced.

NOTE: In the real LAPD organization from 2004, the Assistant Chief of Human Resources was the 1st Assistant Chief of the LAPD. This title was also seen in “The Closer (Pilot)” on their parking spot in Parker Center. However, it has later been established that the Assistant Chief of Operations is the de facto 1st Assistant Chief (even if they are never strictly called by that rank), suggesting that this designation has been transferred to the Assistant Chief of Operations sometime after The Closer began.

Organization of the OHR[]

The Office of Human Resources was comprised of the following components. These components are now found elsewhere in the LAPD.
