Laurence Moran is a former US sniper and arms dealer.

History[]

Moran was trained as a sniper by the US government and served in at least the First Gulf War. He was later honorably discharged and opened Moran Associates Protection Services. FBI agent Fritz Howard described Moran as "a small arms entrepreneur, basically a licensed gun dealer." Moran ran a website detailing his services and a calendar of where he would be.

After Marty DeLuca decided to murder his wife for aborting his child, he bought a customized gun off of Moran. Inside of the murder weapon, Lieutenant Michael Tao was able to find a perfect thumbprint linking the gun to Moran. Moran was brought in by the LAPD and interviewed by Fritz and Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson who leveraged an illegal weapon Moran had in his car to get him to talk without a lawyer. Brenda confronted Moran with the gun, annoying him until she and Fritz explained that it was used in a murder. Moran stated that he'd sold three guns of that type customized in that exact manner, but didn't know the names of his customers. Moran offered to look at pictures or a lineup, but Brenda knew that both were unreliable and too time consuming. Instead, she suggested settling the issue with a handshake.

Later, as Brenda confronted Agent Tim Hecht for his role in covering up the murders, Detective Julio Sanchez lead Moran into the murder room. Apologizing to Marty and stating it was either Marty or himself, Moran shook hands with Marty, identifying him as the man he'd sold the gun to. Enraged by Hecht's role in his child's death, Marty grabbed Provenza's gun and opens fire, killing Hecht before Julio could take him down. Still in the murder room during the incident, Moran took cover and survived the shooting unharmed, staring in shock at the aftermath from the position he was crouched in.
